Couldn’t resist. Well you know me, always looking for an excuse to use Peeps during any holiday. I have noticed they don’t make Ground Hog Peeps. Might have to call in that suggestion. Smitten with the little guys still after so much time. Geez I’ve been eating Peeps for 50 years!!!! Is it the memories from my childhood or the bright colors that capture my affections?
As a little girl of 4 years old I would head to the race track with my family. My two older brothers were both race car drivers. They started racing these little cars called quarter midgets long before I was even born, at the tender age of 5 and 6. An opened wheel mini version of a bigger car. Honestly, what parent in their right mind would put a young child in a speeding race car with a gas pedal and racing engine !!!!!!!! Yikes …………………(Strangely the littlest one went on to become a hot-shot professional driver-who knew!)
When I came of age (4 seemed to be the magic number) I was allowed to tag along. My mother would be timing the boys with a stopwatch, analysing their every move, recording the results, and reviewing the stats. I however was a nuisance, therefore I was given a whole dollar (big money in those days) and it was assumed I would stay busy elsewhere! Where do you think that might be…………………….the snack shack silly.
That’s where it all began, my unabated love of sugar. With reckless abandon I would run not walk to purchase my delights for the evening. Low and behold they had an abundant supply of Peeps among other scrumptious confections. So there I was, unattended, no one watchfully examining my acquisition. This side of little girl heaven as far as I was concerned. Immediately after my careful selection I would head under the bleachers and bask in the sweetness, carefully trying to make the booty last all night. (never did BTW, always had to beg for more money) Strangely I was a skinny little thing up until I left high school. That my friends, is another story.
INSTRUCTIONS
Gather the candy. Poke anything you can, with the Peeps inter-mixed onto a sharp skewer. Repeat several times. Devour immediately. What could be easier!
Tip: Get the longest skewers you can find, they hold more candy
